Toast and Bread

Something occured to me today as I was walking to L-mart (basically a junk store). On the way there is a place called "People Baking Toast" and I thought - "Why baking toast? Why not making toast. One does not bake toast (to my knowledge) one does not even toast toast. You toast bread. You can even bake bread. Why baking?" Just another example of the Korean concept of English syntax.
As far as I can tell all the bakeries here are some how French related (Paris Baguette/ Tous Les Jours etc..) Apparently all good breads come from France. (PB has great cream puffs...).

Hmmm. But when you think about it like that, English syntax makes slightly less than no sense at all. Why don't we toast toast if we bake bread? It makes sense to quibble over toasting toast (it's not toast until the toasting has been done), but then let's be consistent--before the baking you don't have bread, you have dough. *sigh*

At any rate, I think "People Baking Toast is a positively hilarious name for a bakery and there ought to be one in South Bend.
